This is a private web page for participants in the 2008 Tuscany Photo Workshop. If you found this page by accident.

To all the Tuscany participants welcome, This page will be updated thru the year with travel, photo tips and info on the places we will visit.

Please get me your flight schedule. I need to keep track of everyone's arrival & departure times, flight info.

It's a long flight, try & avoid the movies & get some sleep on the ride over.

Make sure you passport is OK, and make a copy of the title page to keep with your other travel documents, such as copies of your credit card numbers, important phone numbers, drivers license numbers, customer service, bank numbers.

Call your credit card company & let them know you will be traveling in Italy so they do not cancel your card when you use it overseas. By the way, check your expiration date and the magnetic strip on the back of your credit card, make sure it is not worn out.

Do not bring jewelry except a cheap watch,

Check your electrical stuff. Battery, computer chargers and the like. Some have built in converters like Apple chargers. If not, you will need a 220 converter with an adapter plug for the European style wall outlets, round not flat. Remember: a converter for 110 to 220 and a wall plug adapter.

Check with your Cell phone provider, it may or may not work in Italy. I will have one works in case of emergency.

Give family, friends a copy of the itinerary with hotels & phone numbers just in case they need to reach you. These numbers will be sent out at a later date.

Suggestions of stuff you might want to bring in your check luggage, hand sanitizer, small soap, tissues, small translator, dictionary, water bottle, lens cloth, Zip Loc bag to seal items from dust, moisture, a diary & pen, wine cork pull, OTC drugs, chapstick, roll up rain slicker, favorite snack bars.

Clothing is very casual, you will not need anything dressy. Check the weather just before the trip; bring appropriate lightweight washable clothing for your comfort. Khakis, jeans, very comfortable worn-in shoes, Short sleeve shirts and a long sleeve or two, include a cover up. It can get cool in the morning/evening & during a Tuscan Rain, one that blows thru after a couple hours. Casual and comfortable, subtle colors, is the norm. In Italy black is always in style.

There is limited room in the vans for luggage. Each person will be allowed 1 checked bag and 1 carryon or camera bag. Airports are getting fussy with carry-on, Keep the size reasonable and remember you might want a second carry-on for fragile purchases on the return trip home. I keep a small tote folded in my luggage for this. Weight limits on luggage are enforced by the airlines. I have 2 - nine passenger vans for the workshop, 6 people plus luggage in each.

I will have a laptop with me, if you need to download files & re-use cards there will be space on an external hard drive for you, but note: I just returned from the Professional Photographers convention in San Antonio, digital Flash cards are cheaper than ever, lots of rebates, time to stock up so you have plenty of storage for the trip.

Remember balance payments for Italy are due by February 1, 2008
